The Valley Time Capsule House is a mid-century, traditional ranch home built in 1949 in Van Nuys, CA. It’s one of the few fully intact and preserved homes in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, retaining its original build inside and out.

The home has been thoughtfully and meticulously restored, preserved, and adorned with period-correct fixtures, furniture, decor, and art. You’ll also find everything from light switches to a cuckoo clock that hasn’t been replaced or moved since the 1950s.

• Character-defining features include wood-beamed ceilings, wood-paneled walls with picture ledges, and original wood flooring, all in a rich walnut color. Seen throughout is a floral wallpaper on both the walls and ceiling installed in the 1960s.

• The saloon boasts real saloon doors, a full bar, four captains-chair stools, a brick floor, and a classic bottle glass door surrounded by emerald green velvet curtains.

• The kitchen is nearly original with brick walls, knotty pine cabinets and oven hood, and a 1949 Thermador oven. The walls are painted in “Brady Bunch orange” with butter yellow retro-designed Big Chill appliances.

• The backyard has lush green grass, citrus trees (oranges and lemons), a large oak tree, mature ficus, and a freeform pool adorned with music note tiles and lined with red brick. Vintage outdoor furniture is available upon request.
